Why "Duck & Bull"?
One version of a retirement plan has Chris and Wendy owning a little Irish Pub with good food, yummy beers, friendly staff, live music and excellent conversation.Â
In the grand tradition of old pubs in the UK, Wendy wanted to find a name that could be translated into images on the sign out front. Historically this was done in a time when literacy was low and citizens could easily identify a location by the images. Often it was a coat of arms or animals on the sign.
Her maiden name, Drake, is also the name of a male duck; her Grandmother's maiden name was Bull... and so the Duck and Bull was born from the maiden names two strong-willed females from the same lineage.
The menu would be forged with stories from her family's past, carrying their memories forward. Their taps would flow with the very best from the British Isles and Ireland. No IPA's or light beers here!
For now it's just a possibility, something fun to think about. But maybe this website is a step in that direction. We'll continue to add to it over time and see!
